Ideas for Clothing and Props for Your Photo Shoot

Whenever the topic of pin-up photography comes up I often have gals ask me if pin-up just means lingerie or being scantily clothed. Actually, you can choose to include any props you want in your session.

Remember, you don’t have to wear bra and panties or pose in anyway that would make you feel uncomfortable. Here is a short list of things you can wear or bring to the photo shoot!

A few ideas to get you started.

Something with a little class…

  • A vest (Leather or Dressy)
  • An low cut evening dress
  • An off the shoulder top
  • Fuzzy sweater
  • Fancy hats and gloves
  • High heels
  • Stockings (various styles)

Something sexy…

  • Anything fishnet
  • Anything thin or transparent
  • Anything tight
  • Body Stocking
  • Boy Shorts, tight shorts or silk boxer shorts
  • Colorful panties and bra
  • Cutoffs that are too short
  • Tank shirts that are too short and/or tight
  • Lingerie
  • Thigh high stockings with or without garters
  • Thongs or tee backs

Something different…

  • Anything that he gave you
  • A vest, visor and playing cards
  • Bath Robe
  • Bath Towel
  • Tee shirts with rips or holes
  • Biker shorts
  • Anything leather
  • Mini Skirt
  • An apron for cooking
  • Anything with polka dots
  • Halloween costume
  • The tools of your trade
  • Western hat and boots
  • Workout outfit with dumbbells or boxing gloves

Some props from home…

  • Any props from home
  • Candles
  • Flowers/Flower petals
  • Scarves
  • Sun glasses
  • Wild jewelry
  • Your favorite teddy bear

Something of his…

  • His favorite hockey/football/baseball team sweatshirt or jersey
  • Or his favorite old shirt
  • Or his hunting jacket
  • Maybe his work uniform
  • Or his coveralls
  • Or his work belt with tools

The list of clothing and props is left up to your imagination. Use that imagination and be creative! Think about the style of photographs from his perspective as you make your decisions. After all, this gift of your photographs will be for him, so imagine what he would like as you look through your dresser drawers and closet in preparation for your photo shoot.

Unique photographs do take some planning, and your choice in clothing and props is important. Please make sure that your clothing has no holes or tears, that aren’t supposed to be there. Manufacturer’s tags should be removed from items where they might be visible. These tags always somehow seem to appear whether you are wearing sheer materials or not.

If you’d like to find new lingerie, swimwear or costumes to wear for your shoot or just to generate some ideas I posted a few web sites addresses earlier on this blog that you can check out. So have fun deciding on what you are going to bring to the shoot and I’m looking forward to meeting you real soon.
